Gale shrugged softly. "It pays the bills, I needed something to help give my sister and I a good home and the division paid the best, cept if I ran drugs, but I wasn't going to get myself into that," he told her, keeping his eyes off of her, so that his eyes wouldn't drift onto her...

Nina moved her head to the side, trying to catch his gaze. "But Division is just...so bad. They would hire you as soon as they would do experiments on you,"

"Honestly I was desperate and didn't know what I was getting into at the time," he told her, leaning against the wall, his forearms resting on his knees. "I was lucky though, I was strong enough physically for them to want me to guard, but not strong enough to outlast some of their stronger test. Not too smart, not too strong, it's not so bad being average after all," he said, grinning a little.

Nina finally let her eyes roam his bare chest. "You don't seem very average to me," she mumbled, then flushed when she realized she had spoken the words out loud. She sunk deeper into the soapy water.

Gale grinned softly, not having looked so he didn't catch her eyes roaming his chest. "How so?" he asked, turning his head to see her half submerged under the water. Her large, beautiful eyes staring up at him shyly. He smiled wide at the side. Adorable.

Nina--who was still blushing--shrugged. She was unwilling to answer that question, but she was becoming a little bit....curious. "Do you have a girlfriend?" she asked, knowing it was more wonder than anything else. No matter how kind and good looking he was, she didn't think she could handle any kind of relationship, and she doubted he wanted one with someone like her.

Gale grinned softly and shook his head. "No, no girlfriend," he said, chuckling. "I don't think I've ever even really had a real one before too."

"Oh," Nina raised herself out of a water a little, so that it rested just barely over her breasts, keeping everything that needed to be hidden hidden. "Why is that?"

Gale felt his mouth go dry when she moved up so that it was barely covering...oh god. Gale looked away politely, feeling the tips of his ears go a little red. "Worked too much really, and all the rest of my time was spent raising my sister, and afterwards, well I guess it just became a habit," he said.

Nina pondered whether she should ask the next question on her mind. It was a bit inappropriate, and she didn't want to give him the wrong idea... "Are you a virgin?" It slipped past her lips before she could stop it.

Gale grinned a little at that one. "No, I'm a guard here and guards have...well a kind of a rep. I've never forced myself on a girl, but I have fooled around and have been forced by a couple of girls too," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. Yeah, those hadn't been some of the most pleasent experiences.

"You've been forced to have sex?" Nina asked, frowning softly. She knew from experience that that wasn't fun, but he could definitely get away from any girl who tried to make him have sex with her.

"I've been locked in some rooms with crazy sex starved girls before," he told her, nodding. "It was a joke, but I was a guy, so hell I just went for it. Can't stay a virgin too long here..." he trailed off.

So it wasn't the same thing, but at least he could get a very small sense of what she was feeling. "I've never had consensual sex," she admitted softly.

"He must have scarred you," Gale said, murmuring softly. It wasn't the same, he knew. It was so so much worse. He reached into the water and gently squeezed her hand without a second thought.

Nina tensed for a split second when his hand reached into the water, but a second later she was squeezing it back tightly. He really didn't scare her, and she was happy and lucky to have his help. "They did scar me, in more ways than one...But I got my little angel out of it. She's the silver lining,"

Gale smiled. "She is," he said, stroking the back of her hand with his thumbs. "Do you ever dream about having a full family?" he asked her, curious about her as well.

Nina nodded, relaxing again as his thumb stroked her skin. She lowered their hands to rest on her thigh under the water. "I do. I want to be with someone that I want to be with, and I want Melanie to have a daddy in her life."

Gale forced himself not to tense a little when she placed their hands on her thigh. He was only worried that it would make her uncomfortable, but she was much more than relaxed. "She deserves one," he murmured softly, shifting a little so that he could look down at her. "And you derserve a guy who'll take care of you and keep you safe and protected," he told her, stroking her soft skin.

"Like your doing right now," Nina murmured, before sitting up completely in the tub suddenly. "Gale...can I kiss you?" She knew she should be more scared than she was, since her body was now half revealed to him, and she was asking to kiss a man she barely knew, but she couldn't bring herself not to trust him.

Gale swallowed softly, lifting his hand from her thigh gently to cup her cheek. "If it's alright with you," he murmured softly to her, feeling himself leaning into her already, his eyes captivated by her own.

For just a second, Nina hesitated, but then she was suddenly leaning into him, pressing her lips softly against his. She brushed them together softly, because the feeling of kissing someone back was brand new to her.

Gale pressed his lips gently against hers, his hand still cupping her cheek to hold her lips closer. She felt as soft as he had thought, and felt even better. His lips were slow and gentle against hers, taking his time as he let her explore the kiss for herself.

Nina was lost in the kiss fast. She pulled him very close to her, her hand on the side of his neck. His lips were warm and soft and inviting, not cold and hard like she was used too.

Gale wrapped his arms gently around her waist, pulling her a little bit out of the water to hold her closer in his strong, protective embrace. He silently promised her that he would keep her safe, no matter what. She seemed so soft and fragile under his touch, which only strengthened his resolve.
